A slice of mincemeat pie is a favorite of my husband. Despite its name, no meat is included. Mincemeat recipes have a variety of fruits such as raisins apples and currants and they go back hundreds of years as a traditional Christmas time dessert. It was painted alla prima because I couldn't wait to dig in.
