Weightless
Michael Gaudreau
$350.00
Dimensions: 9 x 11
Media: oil
Artist Statement : Each object is seen quietly Floating on water. Originally, I was captivated by the colors of the pool floats. Then I was intrigued by the interplay of light and shadow. The people are gone but their presence is felt by the artifacts left behind. Where are they? Were they taken? Why were these joyful playthings abandoned? When I look for subjects to paint, I am drawn to and seek out that "moment of light" that illuminates and transforms ordinary things like rocks or buildings, and in this case, innertubes, turning them into something extraordinary. I also am captivated by bursts of color in the landscape that often present themselves, like a gift. I try to incorporate the same element of surprise in my painting.

Floating
Kate
$295.00
Sold
Dimensions: 6 x 6 x 2
Media: Mixed media on clay board
Artist Statement : The act of painting reflects my personal response and connection to the natural world and the beauty within it. My work is not driven by a desire for a realistic depiction or the grand view, and instead often narrows in on a part of the landscape or textures and shapes within it. Gouache is my primary media, allowing the image to determine what base is chosen and letting the creative process tell me whether or not to introduce any additional media. I usually choose to work on a relatively small scale with the intent of creating a more intimate experience with the viewer.
